Hello, welcome, and thank you for visiting.
I am an art historian specializing in Modern and Contemporary Art and Architecture. My research aims to shed light on understudied, obscured, and overlooked narratives. In my work I engage with core questions about the relationships and intersections between art practices, the built environment, public space, memory, and everyday life. You can find more info about my research projects here.
I am currently an Assistant Professor of Art History at UNC Wilmington. Prior to this role I held a 2021-2022 postdoctoral fellowship in the Humanities+Urbanism+Design Initiative at the University of Pennsylvania. I earned my PhD in the History of Art and Architecture from Boston University and my MA in Art History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I hold a BFA in Sculpture and Art History from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. You can find my full CV here.
As an educator, I employ a pedagogy of care that foregrounds the interwoven values of community, resilience, reflection, and gratitude. Beyond UNCW, I've taught at the University of Pennsylvania, Boston University, Suffolk University, Northeastern, the Boston Architectural College, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. You can find more about my teaching and pedagogy here.
Having spent the majority of my life in the Boston area, I am currently relishing my new home in subtropical Wilmington, NC. When I'm not working, I am happily spending time outdoors and exploring the coast with my spouse, our kiddo, and Fernando, our beloved and outspoken chihuahua.
I adore my friends and am eternally grateful for their support, as well as that of my family, mentors, and colleagues. A true gemini, I am at once utterly cynical and relentlessly hopeful.
